"Known as the "Pike's Peak Gold Rush" because Pike's Peak was a landmark visible 100 miles (160 km) out on the plains.The Cripple Creek mining district covers a Miocene volcanic caldera filled with quartz latite porphyry. The ore bodies are veins and replacement zones within the quartz latite. The ore minerals are gold and silver tellurides, with accessory fluorite.

Most people know of the California gold rush and the historic 49'ers but Colorado also has a very storied and larger gold rush of it's own. Gold was actually discovered in Colorado in 1849 and 1850 by prospectors heading to the California gold rush; however, the amounts of gold found in the South Platte river were not enough to keep these early Colorado prospectors from the much-hyped wealth of the California gold rush. It wasn't until 1859 that the Colorado gold rush was officially in full swing on the front range of Colorado around Denver and Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. Memories via photographs have always been a large part of my life. Having six children, ranging in age from 8 to 26, there have been many memories to capture! Besides taking pictures of my loved ones, I find peace and solitude in capturing the beauty all around us. From the golden colors of the aspen trees in Colorado, to the snow topped mountains, waterfalls, to clouds in all shapes and sizes. I love to capture all the blessings God has surrounded us with. As I've gotten older and wiser my faith continues to grow through each step taken through our beautiful world. I am hoping that my passion will touch someones heart as it does mine.
